Readers’ Digest was a household name for English readers when we were growing up. I am not sure if it is still published. But It is not a sensation anymore that it used to be. Later, when I could, I would buy a copy off and on and read it from back to back. I wondered why they called it ‘Digest’. In common English, Digesting was something else. Then I realized that it related to capsular or compressed form; that you would get many bits of information in one place. Our enthusiasm for compressed forms has grown greatly over time. We compressed Test Cricket to ODI (50 overs each) to T-20 to T-10. We continuously see Apps on LinkedIn saying

There was the usual wait for the announcement of moon sighting. The Minister of Science and Technology had already given his scientific version about Eid on Sunday 24 th . In fact, he had put up a sort of challenge to Ruet e Hilal Committee to give a different verdict if they could. Finally, the RHC announced quite late about moon sighting. The challenge from the Minister was misplaced and unnecessarily arrogant. He could have said the same things more decently and politely but then he would not be Fawad Chaudhry. Ruet e Hilal Committee was formed by A

By the time, next blog will be published on Monday 25 th , Eid ul Fitr will be either a day old or on that day. It is therefore good time to exchange Eid Greetings today. Please accept my prayers and wishes on this auspicious occasion. May Allah keep you safe and shower His Blessings upon you. May Allah keep your families and dear ones in His Great Protection. Aameen. Eid ul Fitr is always a happy occasion. There is a long month of fasting culminating in Eid. Those who were fasting feel rewarded; those who did not, feel relieved. This year, Eid is in the shadow of Corona. How the social interaction will take place is still unclear.

This blog post is again not about politics; though the name suggests it could have been. I wish to draw attention to what has the Pharma Industry done in the time of Corona. From the outset, Pharma industry was exempted from lockdown. The manufacturing units were allowed to run, and the offices also remained open, therefore. Manufacturing faced several challenges all the same. Staff: People who had gone to their hometowns just before lockdown was clamped, were unable to return for several days. Even later, they had to find alternative means to somehow reach the workplaces. This meant that the staff strength remained incomplete f

This blog post is not about politics; though the name suggests it could have been. Politics is a unique animal of its own kind which happily feeds on the very people who once rode it. But this is not our topic. Some people do not agree to staying away from politics. They feel it is our privilege and duty to join political activity being a responsible citizen of the country. More on that later may be. This blogpost is about management; about organizing shows of various types. As a manager, organization of events is a recurring activity. It could be a weekly meetin

Ramadan comes every year and so does the confusion about work timings during the holy month. I think the variations have increased with time and it would be good to look at it. I went on an employment to Saudi Arabia in September 2003. I was working with a company manufacturing medical grade PVC resin which was at that time used for making infusion bags, infusion lines, blood lines and disposable syringe plungers. Later, most of these were switched to other polymers like PP. Our business was B to B (Business to Business) and a fair portion was exports. We worked straight hours, 8.00am to 5.00pm, Saturday to Wednesday; 8 to 1 on Thursd
